Pianist Matteo Myderwyk is the first Dutch pianist to release solo piano music with the renowned international label Warner Classics. His albums, Notes of Longing (2021) and Veluwe Suite (2022), received high praise. In the summer of 2023, Matteo’s new album, A Brief Nostalgia, was released.

This achievement did not go unnoticed, as Matteo was nominated for an Edison Award.

He toured this fall with a full piano arsenal through major concert halls like Het Concertgebouw, Tivoli, De Doelen, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, and Musis Sacrum. However, at Pllek, he comfortably plays a lying-down concert on a single piano.

In 2024, new solo piano work from his hand will appear; Renaissance is set to be released over the course of the year. At Pllek, he will give a preview of this!

Matteo’s many years of training as a classical pianist at the conservatory taught him above all to leave behind the music of his heroes Bach, Liszt, and Messiaen and to find his own musical language. First and foremost, he decided to throw all the classical rules out the window. Making music without pre-made agreements; with the goal of creating music in the moment. This was the most important lesson he learned during this experimental period; music is not written on paper but is created in the moment.
