BALEARIC ON THE BEACH // AFTERSUN

Balearic is back on the beach! Together with Rutters, Marcelo Umaña, and DJ JAMA, we bring you the most unique Balearic sounds. Expect summer vibes, so come and celebrate the summer! After 11:00 PM, we’ll continue the party indoors with Balearic Aftersun.

For this edition, we have a special guest from London: Phil Mison. Mison is known for his compositions in the Balearic, ambient, and electronic music genres, described by critic Christina Roden as “sophisticated, exotic, and close-to-the-bone, mutable yet cohesive.” Mison is especially famous in the Balearic music scene, where he is described as a “pioneer” and a “goliath” of that genre.

Amsterdam DJ JAMA plays tech & house and is known for his warm grooves and wide selection of electronic music treasures. JAMA regularly performs at Thuishaven and leads The School of House in the A’DAM Tower, the first educational platform for dance and electronic music in the Netherlands.

The Nada’s Rutters, a familiar face at Pllek, will play rhythms and tunes from all corners of the world. Good vibes guaranteed!

Resident Marcelo Umaña is one of the pioneers of the electronic music scene in Chile. He began his musical journey in 1991. He participated in the first parties held in Santiago, such as Barracuda and Ultramedia. He was part of Background, a specialized record store that became the epicenter of the emerging national scene and the cradle of various party initiatives and a record label. He was a resident at the first clubs in the Chilean capital, Open House and Casa Club. In 1998, he became one of the residents of the most important club in Chilean history, La Feria Club. In 2001, he moved from Chile to Amsterdam, where he has performed at various venues, festivals, and in different European capitals including London, Paris, Barcelona, and Berlin.

Over the past three decades, he has dedicated his energy to spreading electronic music and its various genres through specialized press, but mainly by participating in various radio programs, including Radio Isla Negra, Red Light Radio in Amsterdam, and Atlantis Digital Radio.

Since 2012, he has been the resident at Pllek, where he has developed eclectic sets ranging from Ambient, Balearic, Downtempo, Disco, House to World Music.
