PIANOSCAPES | BY MARYNKA & DR GOLDFINGER
An evening full of improvised piano music with a meditative character. Marynka and Dr. Goldfinger take you into their musical story, enhanced by the light art of Vladimir Grafov.
Composer and pianist Marynka creates music during the performance, improvising with her own method of ‘instant music’. Her approach is inspired by the Indian Raga tradition and is the result of many experimentations and experiences. Her music takes shape in real time and it feeds the future with inspiration. Her compositions unfold naturally around the modal carcass, which defines the mood (mode) of the piece – be it loneliness, dismay, state of love, meditation on nature, clearness of mind or bliss. Marynka’s play is unique, but still, some listeners note similarities to the music of Debussy, Satie, Jarret, and even the mystic Gurdjieff. Marynka beleives in spirituality of music. Her music is focused, meditative and well guarded. It’s like story telling with music. The public experience dynamic balance, comfort, open space, mystic presence and bliss. Her newest album is called “Dimension 5”.
In the program Pianoscapes Marynka is joined by soundartist Dr. Goldfinger for an extra dimension in music. He places the sound of Marynka’s piano in sonic context with his own recordings and effects. Interaction of classic piano with sonic canvas will create synergy of abstract and emotional planes, giving birth to multi-dimensional music experience.
The light has also been thought of in order to get in the right mood. Vladimir Grafov creates works of art, interactive installations and stage designs with light and sound. His works integrate lasers, traditional light and analog optical devices with digital processing. His work has recently been shown in, among others, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, Het Marineterrein and Beatrixpark in Amsterdam.
