Since Gita Buhari shared her first song “Mariama” in 2018, she has been on the radar. With supporting acts for Andreya Triana, OSHUN and performances at festivals like Grasnapolsky, Valkhof Festival and Oerol, she confirmed that the attention she received was well deserved. In the middle of the pandemic she released her debut EP ‘Queen of Nothing’ and received nothing but praise for her unique blend of organic and electronic elements and was featured in magazines like Vogue and ELLE, as well as with live sessions at Paradiso and 3FM. The band is working on the follow-up to their debut EP and it promises to be the next step musically. Gita combines elements of trip-hop, shoegaze and soul. She is a true character who loves to break stereotypes and that is exactly what she plans to do with her next EP.

To complement the fresh sounds of the EP, the band created a mesmerizing AV show in collaboration with visual artist Anke Sondi (Sandberg Institute) and creative director Jan Hürxkens (Studio Overlab).

Following her critically acclaimed debut ‘Queen Of Nothing’ in 2020, Gita Buhari has now announced plans for her next EP ‘Blood Lily’, preceded by the compelling new single ‘I Used To Blame Others’. In the uncertain times of the pandemic, Gita and her musical partner Arjuna Vlasblom threw off their frustrations and put together a collection of songs that embodied the state of mind they were in during the writing process. Combining elements of trip-hop, soul and shoegaze, the band proudly returns to the stage with their new music.
